I’ve had enough of eating cabbage and carrots, chard and spinach, and want to feel blessed, if only briefly, with living on the same continent as our Mediterranean pals. My lovely crisp salad leaves and rocket are desperate for a holiday romance.
This is the month that can deliver trugs tumbling with a tasty, sweet, juicy produce, giving us gardeners the ingredients to cook something a bit more exotic than meat and two veg.
Tomatoes, chillies, beans, squashes, courgettes, cucumbers, sweetcorn… all in need some sun and heat.
