A willow its own

After a weekend of bending, twisting, wheedling and cajoling, I have my very own self-made basket for the garden.

Already put to good use

I very much wanted mine to be a useful size for collecting fruit and vegetables, and that looked in-keeping with the spirit of my rustic plot. Well, it’s certainly rustic! Perhaps “organic” sounds better?!

Luckily for me, I live on the edge of the Somerset Levels, where there are several willow growers and basket making courses to choose from. Here’s a visual journey that my project took over the weekend at Musgrove Willows. Now that I’ve got a few techniques to work with, I’m looking forward to having a go at some other structures for the garden.
