A touch of frost

At last! The garden has been touched with some frosts this last week. This is good news for a number of reasons: It makes winter vegetables taste sweeter, and it does a good job in killing off a few of the slugs that I am sure are rapidly multiplying under every stone, bucket and length of black plastic in this incredibly mild winter…

The main reason I’m pleased, however, is that it’s made all of the effort I took to bunch straw around the artichokes, and lay expensive but o-so-worth-it Strulch amongst the baby cabbages and broad beans, worthwhile.
