What’s up, D’october?

I’ve not been 100% for a while and, together with various other complaints, I recently completely lost my appetite. With the increasing disinterest in cooking, then in the kitchen garden, an alarm bell went off…without really noticing it happening,  I wasn’t eating enough fruit or vegetables!  I decided to shake, or should I say smooth, myself out of it.

To nourish, and hopefully restore, my nutrient balance I’ve been making easy-to-eat smoothies. Not sweet fruity ones but raw, dark vegetable ones, full of essential nutrients. Kale, carrot, beetroot, tomato, celery, garlic, onion. Without the raw kale I think it would be rather nice, but liquidised cavolo nero makes it a bit grim (taste and colour).

My body is telling me: “Judy, no alcohol or caffeine allowed”. Otherwise a dash of vodka might have helped. Never mind, it seems to be working, and I’m feeling much better…
