We’ve had a long spell of dry weather, building to a sweltering ‘bread oven’ last Friday and then interrupted at 3am on Saturday morning by the most fantastic lightning storm and a torrential downpour. Unfortunately, fumbling about in the dark, I had no idea how to use my camera as a video to capture the formidable lightning. But I did manage to snatch a few stills which show the eerie pastel glow of an electric-lit and saturated sky as it passed over us then over Glastonbury Tor.
I was once told that plants love lightning, as it charges the air, boosting a plants intake of nitrogen. I don’t know if that’s true, but I always think they look bigger and better after a good thunder storm.
